Black Bean Burgers with Quinoa!

It’s time for another of my perfected vegan and organic recipes. Black bean burgers, with a twist! Instead of regular oats as a filler, I use quinoa! It’s actually another of those recipes that I really didn’t know if I’d like overly much. Or that my husband would like. Boy was I wrong! These have been a huge hit! My family loves these burgers! My kids request them all the time.

Black Bean Burgers with Quinoa?

Quinoa is an amazing food, according to HealthLine:

  • Quinoa is a grain crop that is grown for its edible seeds. It is pronounced KEEN-wah.
  • Quinoa is one of the world’s most popular health foods.
  • Quinoa is gluten-free, high in protein and one of the few plant foods that contain all nine essential amino acids.
  • It is also high in fiber, magnesium, B-vitamins, iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin E and various beneficial antioxidants.
  • It’s very nutritious
  • It technically isn’t a cereal grain, but a pseudo-cereal.
  • It’s even actually mostly grown organically!

And Organic, too!

I make these burgers with all organic ingredient. As I’ve mentioned previously, while going organic, I discovered it was all those pesticides that were causing my migraines, now I usually only get them when I’m lured in by birthday meals and other special events that don’t usually have organic foods for me to eat.

So, if you’d like to stay healthier, you can start by eating these organic black bean burgers.

They also are great for vegetarians and vegans because they are made without meat and dairy. They are awesome! Everyone in my family enjoys these, even all the meat lovers.

Notes on the Perfection Process…

I tried a couple different recipes, and it took a few tries, but… I finally perfected them.

The original recipe I tried said to fry them in oil. I tried this and they would just fall apart. And they were mushy. So mushy that they just squished right out of the bun. Then, I tried frying them and then baking them. This worked a little better, but not great. Plus all that extra fat from frying them in oil. I finally discovered that what works best is to just bake them. And it is a lot healthier too!

Now I would like to share this recipe for black bean quinoa burgers with you. As mentioned, these burgers are now a new family favorite. They taste delicious and are pretty easy to make!

I really hope you and your family enjoy these as much as we do!
