Krispy Kreme Doughnuts – Glazed

Today I am going to share a delicious recipe for glazed doughnuts with you.

I found this recipe while searching for a doughnut recipe to make with my kids. I had found a cute Halloween treat I wanted to make with them, but I needed doughnuts in order to make them. So, I decided we would make homemade doughnuts together! We had a lot of fun making these, but I think most of the kids enjoyed eating them more. They were delicious!

This recipe is a copycat for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. The doughnuts we made didn’t taste exactly like Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, but that may have been because we used fresh ground whole wheat flour, instead of the recommended white flour. They were still delicious though, especially when still warm!

How About Some Shapes?

Krispy Kreme DoughnutsYou can make the classic doughnut shape, or you can cut the dough into rectangles for maple bar-like doughnuts. Another way is to use cookie cutters to make other fun shapes! My kids and I put food coloring in the glaze, cut Halloween shapes, and used some cool decorations on our doughnuts to make fun Halloween treats!

Perfecting the Recipe

One of the best parts about these doughnuts, was that we used all organic ingredients when we made them. So, I was actually able to eat them!! I was pretty excited about this because I haven’t found organic doughnuts anywhere yet. As you might remember, I love food, and this is the first time I’ve had doughnuts what seems like a very very very (did I mention VERY? ) long time.

One Last Thing on the Perfecting Process…

Healthy option: If you don’t want to fry these in oil, you can bake them at 425 degrees for 6-8minutes.

And Finally!

I hope you try these doughnuts and enjoy them as much as we did!
